How To Fix Front Derailleur. To adjust the height of the front derailleur locate the positioning clamp that connects the derailleur to the frame of the bike. A well adjusted will keep your chain on when it really counts.
Turn the clamp bolt clockwise to loosen it and then adjust the height. The front derailleur cage should be approximately parallel to the chain. So make sure that when you attach the cable the shifter that operates the front derailleur sits in the lowest gear.
Set the lower limit by adjusting the screw marked L.
The crankset is the cluster of chains and gears attached the the pedal. To adjust the height of the front derailleur locate the positioning clamp that connects the derailleur to the frame of the bike. Try to shift up to the larger chainring. Next check to see if there is clearance between the chain and the front derailleurs inner cage with the chain on the smallest chainring.
